We are extremely proud to introduce the finest vintage re-creation in the RTT 'stable'. The MKL-101 «Bottle» is a high quality condenser microphone with a valve (tube) amplifier. Newly manufactured, using a "retro" style, it is designed to be used for the most exacting professional recordings. Engineers no longer have to re-build classic RFTA "Bottle-type" mics or pay many thousands of dollars in order to own this combination of hand-made vintage and modern components.

AUDIOMEDIA Review of the MKL-101

The original recreation of this microphone pre-amplifier used a large, black, Telefunken EF12 valve (tube) - made in Germany before 1949. We are currently using the ultra-quiet RFT EF12 tube replacement and are extremely pleased to say that this Russian tube meets or exceeds the parameters of the Telefunken tube. We do have a few of the original Telefunken EF12 tubes left, but you have to call for availability.

We also use WSW-Siemens (WienerSchwachstronwerhe GMBH) output transformer from the 1950s, made for film soundtracks and used with large diaphragm (1.3 inch) cardioid LOMO capsules, designed in the 1960s.

This combination of vintage and modern components produces sound coloration that conforms to modern recording requirements for self-noise, sensitivity and a generally"clean" signal.

The microphone is supplied as a set with a retro-style PSU that is switchable for both 110V and 220V. It also comes with a machined-steel mic holder, two RFT EF-12 type tubes (main plus spare), an 8 meter 5-pin cable which goes from the PSU to the microphone and a 1.5 year warranty.

We will not try to EXPLAIN "sound character" of our microphones in words. Instead, we offer to let you DOWNLOAD CD-quality samples, recorded with our tube microphones. We do specially select microphones for demo recording. Some samples are our own, some are recorded by our customers. None is processed in any way. All samples are mono, in MP3-encoded WAV format.
